Sun May 25th | 1200 PM | Katie WertZ: Vessel | Lheidli T’enneh MEMORIAL Park

"Vessel" is a 15 minute live performance that explores the connection between water and womb as vessels. The work aims to invite audiences to immerse in a visual and auditory performance experience and reflect on the interplay and interconnectedness of embodied movement and place. The dance features a 12ft teal blue knitted river and two dancers in contrasting red, who co-create visual and somatic interpretations around themes of womb, life giving and personal experiences in relationship to Wedzinkwa (also known as the Bulkley River). Wedzinkwa is a significant and central river that connects communities across Wet’suwet’en Territory.

Nine days away from her thirtieth solar return, Sophie moves through nearly 3 decades of questions, joys and perceptions of her time in this body on this earth. Dancing through and with the circus of life, all roads lead home 3.0 is part choreography; part audiography and part filmography — a braided multidisciplinary approach to storytelling as an imprint of the past and a manifesto for that to come.
