Prince George Playhouse

A focused space for movement research and physical practice.
Led by Emmalena Fredriksson — artist, choreographer, and educator working on the unceded lands of the Coast Salish peoples.

Her work frames choreography as a site for relation, structure, and attention.
This three-day intensive invites participants to work through improvisation, repetition, and compositional strategies as tools for noticing and making.

For artists with an existing movement practice.

Join us for a special showing and community forum for our upcoming Mainstage creation: CHAR. 

Developed through research on wildfire ecology in Northern BC, CHAR examines regeneration, residue, and transformation through choreographic practice. With sound by Nancy Tam, this in-process showing shares the early material and questions shaping the work.

After the showing we invite audience members to ask questions, provide input, and share their own experiences with us as part of our collaborative creation process.

Company Practice + Info Session (Audition)

Method Dance Society invites movement-based artists to attend our Company Practice + Info Session, which will serve as an audition for the 2025–2026 season. This is an opportunity to move with our artistic team, learn more about upcoming programming, and express interest in joining either our Company or Junction Apprenticeship Program.

The evening will include:

  • Guided movement exploration and phrase work reflective of our seasonal repertoire

  • Group composition and creative collaboration

  • An info session on company expectations, seasonal projects, and touring

  • Time for questions and community conversation

We value creativity, curiosity, and collaboration. While this is an audition, we aim to create an environment that is supportive and process-focused, centering relationship-building and shared practice.

Eligibility:

  • Junction Apprenticeship Program: Open to artists aged 16+
    Junction applicants are encouraged to meet with a Method director before the audition to learn more about the program and expectations.

  • Company Artists: Open to artists aged 18+

Who Should Attend:

  • Contemporary dancers, movers, and interdisciplinary performance artists

  • Artists based in or connected to Northern BC

  • Artists from equity-deserving communities, including Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, and disabled artists

COMMUNITY MOVES

Community Moves is a celebration of artistic collaboration between regional artists and their community, connection to creative expression and regional identities. The festival includes a number of free workshops, activities, art jams, and performances that celebrate creative collaboration and community engagement. Dancers, Musicians, Choreographers, Visual Artists, Cultural Practitioners, and Writers will work together to create a truly unique and innovative performance based on collaborative methodologies of experiential arts experience. This year, the Community Moves festival will offer community workshops in creative development, movement, yoga, and collaborative programming sessions that facilitate creative opportunities for community members and artists to work together and co-create new works.
